Construction

BL deep groove radial ball bearings are manufactured in ISO 9001 certified plants and meet or exceed AFBMA standards. Rings and balls are constructed of high quality 52100 through-hardened steel. Standard retainers and shields are constructed of cold rolled carbon steel.

In stainless steel units, rings, balls and retainers are constructed of high quality 440C stainless steel, which resists corrosion and provides greater hardness and strength. Shields are constructed of 300-grade stainless steel. Nylon and phenolic retainers are available to meet specific application demands.

Configurations

Bearings are manufactured as sealed (2RS), shielded (ZZ) or open. Many can be supplied with a snap ring (NR suffix).

Sealed (2RS) bearings have contact lip seals providing excellent protection from liquids and contamination. However, seal rubbing can result in friction (drag) and produce heat, which could be a concern in high-speed applications.

Shielded (ZZ) bearings have non-contact steel shields that do not protect against liquids but add no friction or heat build-up during operation.

Open bearings have a coating of light oil and are used in oil bath and oil mist environments.
